Besides his activity as a trumpet player, Pedro has been developing projects focused on the investigation and promotion of the history of the trumpet.
Pedro is one of the founders of Trompete Barroco Brasil. This project has as its main objective the promotion of the baroque trumpet, its history and music. Brought into the digital world in 2020, the Trompete Barroco Brasil is currently a reference platform on the subject of the history of the trumpet at a Brazilian and South American level.
Research on the history of the trumpet in Brazil
Pedro is also an enthusiast of research into the history of the trumpet in Brazil.
His research on the cornet in Brazil during the 19th century led to the project O cornet brasileiro, which includes the first recording with historical cornets of Brazilian pieces by Azarias Dias de Mello, Henrique Alves de Mesquita and José Pedro de Sant'Anna Gomes. In April 2023, Pedro gave a lecture recital on this theme at the Sixth International Romantic Brass Symposium, in Bern, Switzerland.
Keyed Trumpet
His commitment to the rediscovery and appreciation of historical trumpets encouraged him to specialise in an unusual instrument: the keyed trumpet. His work with this instrument culminated in the first CD recording of Joseph Höffner's Introduction und Polonaise für die Klappen-Trompete.
