Pedro Henrique de Souza Rosa is a Brazilian trumpet player from Guarulhos, São Paulo, based in Cologne, Germany.Pedro has been focusing on the practice of historically informed music, and has been specializing in playing different types of historical instruments, with special focus on baroque trumpet, keyed trumpet and historical cornets. Pedro is a member of the ensemble caterva musica and has as a highlight in his career collaborations with renowned groups throughout Europe, such as: Le Concert des Nations (Spain); Le Concert Olympique (Belgium); Le Parlement de Musique (France); Jeune Orchestre Rameau (France); Luthers Bach Ensemble (Netherlands); Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (England); The Berwick Academy (USA); Deutsche Opera am Rhein (Germany); Hannoversche Hofkapelle (Germany); Harmonie Universelle (Germany); Kölner Kammerorchester (Germany); Neue Hofkapelle Osnabrück (Germany). Furthermore, during the summer of 2023, Pedro will be joining the renowned orchestra Le Concert des Nations, directed by Jordi Savall.At the same time, Pedro also dedicates himself to the research and exploration of less known repertoire. Recent outcomes of this work are the first recording of the recently discovered piece by Joseph Höffner, Introduction und Polonaise für die chromatische oder Klappen-Trompete, recorded with keyed trumpet for the CD L'Arte del Virtuoso, vol. 2 of the ensemble caterva musica; and the first recording with historical cornets of 19th century Brazilian pieces, recorded in collaboration with Trompete Barroco Brasil.One of his main artistic goals is the diffusion of the historical trumpets throughout Brazil and Latin America. In this sense, Pedro has given several lectures on the history of the trumpet in different institutions. Recently he was a speaker at the 6th Romantic Brass Symposium, organized by the Hochschule der Künste Bern and the Historic Brass Society. Pedro has also given lectures to students at the Federal University of Santa Maria; OSPA's Music School; National University of Colombia; and the São Paulo State Music School.As far as his education is concerned, Pedro began his musical studies at the age of ten at the Universidade Livre de Música de São Paulo (now EMESP). At this school he had the opportunity to study with professors Albert dos Santos, Paulo Baptista and Edmilson Gomes. He continued his studies at the Faculdade Integral Cantareira, where, in 2015, he obtained a Bachelor of Music degree under the guidance of Professor Fernando Dissenha.Still in Brazil, Pedro integrated the Youth Orchestra of Guarulhos (2011), São Paulo Youth Symphonic Band (2012 - 2014) and São Paulo Youth Orchestra (2014 - 2016), group with which he toured twice in Europe and the USA.Thanks to a DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) scholarship, he moved in 2016 to Germany, where he earned both a Master's degree in Trumpet (under the guidance of Prof. Anna Freeman) and a Master's degree in Historical Performance, with a focus on baroque trumpet and keyed trumpet (under the guidance of Prof. Friedemann Immer) at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.
